Titling software gets OpenGL optimization, new effects.Boris FX has rolled out Graffiti 3, a new version of the company's titling suite. The update includes a variety of performance and feature enhancements, including OpenGL hardware acceleration. It's available now for Mac OS X and Windows.
Graffiti is a 2D and 3D titling suite that supports vector text, animated tracking, kerning, rolls, crawls, fades and the like. It also allows users to map text to 3D shapes and extrude with textures and reflection maps. The new 3.0 release includes OpenGL hardware acceleration and hundreds of preset effects. It also adds vector paint capabilities for write-on effects and custom shapes; new advanced title animation; an expanded selection of type-on animations; new text on path options; animated gradients; spline tools; direct placement of text editing over video background; bump maps for extruded text; and seven new effect filters, including 3D Image Shatter, Colorize Glow, Light Zoom, MultiShadow, Radial Blur, Spiral Blur and Twirl.
Graffiti 3 supports more than 20 hosts, including Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects and Premiere, various Avid systems, Media 100 i and other systems. The full is available now for Mac OS X and Windows for $595. Users of Graffiti 2 can upgrade for $149. Apple Final Cut Pro users who do not have Graffiti 2 can upgrade for $249.
