Pagina 2 di 3 The graphic interface of the DVD shows on the left of the video a section from which the user can access to the chapters. When clicking on a chapter in the video window a brief description of the contents appears with the lessons included and their duration. The video player integrated can be opened in a separate window so that the user can work in Motion without pausing the lessons. The videos have an excellent audio/video quality and a resolution of 800x600 pixel.
In the lower section of the interface there is a button that brings to the index of main topics from which it’s possible to directly jump to the lesson that covers a specific topic.
Course contents Inside Motion 2 follows the same approach seen in Inside Final Cut Pro 5 (already reviewed on Videomakers.net) of lessons based on real projects, and this is a strong point. Explaining all the features of a compositing software is not easy, expecially realizing projects which contains all the main elements, hence Megan and Jim were very good at making for us 3 different motion graphic projects that cover about every feature of the program.
Project files and media are included into the two DVDs, so that the user can work on his system to replicate what the teacher are explaining. Let’s take a look at the course program. Disc 1 - Inside Motion - Introduction
- Interface Tour
- Audio, Objects and Animation
- Particles
- Filters and Blend Modes
- Masking
- Roundtripping
- Keying
- Gestures
- Output
Disc 2 - Inside Motion 2 - Introduction and Overview
- Building a Project with Replicators
- Animation Filters and Generators
- Motion Integration and Plug-ins
- Creating a Template and Exporting
After the first chapter with the course introduction and the system setup, in chapter 2 we find a detailed description of Motion graphic interface, with all its element. It is about an hour of training, in which we will became confident with all the basic elements of the program. Chapter 3 is dedicated to animations. Besides the classical animation with keyframes, Motion introduced an innovation: the behaviors. In this chapter, which it’s also full of very good graphical animations to explain topics, we will learn how to use both techniques, understand the differencies and figure out the right choice between the first and the second one in different cases.
