Pinnacle System annuncia di aver aiutato a perfezionare le scene del nuovo episodio di un dei film diventato un cult :Matrix Reloaded.Il tutto usando Cinewave RT e Oceano Video in collaborazione con la Warner Bros.
Ocean Video's Brainstorm solution uses a mobile Pinnacle CineWave, with Apple's Final Cut Pro, on a movie set to provide directors with immediate feedback for their live action shots, increasing efficiency, improving continuity and reducing the number of takes required to complete scenes.
"Action scenes like those in the Matrix Reloaded are very serious business and are both costly and challenging," said Jeb Johenning, partner, Ocean Video. "Using our CineWave RT Pro system we enabled the directors to preview exactly what the final shot would look like before they got to real shooting. This enables them to reach critical decisions more quickly and complete their shots in fewer takes."

Ocean Video participated in the production of the movie's pivotal action scene, which took nearly two months to shoot and features numerous consecutive complex sequences. During production, Ocean Video transmitted live video directly from the film camera to a mobile CineWave system powered by an Apple Titanium PowerBook. Using CineWave, Johenning was then able to adjust speed and composite the video with background graphics. Within minutes and, on occasion, seconds of shooting, Second Unit Director David Ellis and Director of Photography Kim Marks could scrutinize the video to ensure that their creative goals were being achieved. At the end of key sequences, Ocean Video then delivered the completed sequences to Directors Andy and Larry Wachowski for review.
In one application, the directors wanted to film a car chase sequence with a high-speed camera. While traditional video assist systems cannot easily deliver speed changes, Ocean Video was able to use CineWave to replicate different playback rates so the directors could look at different options. For another scene, Ocean Video worked in the confines of a tunnel deep under San Francisco Bay. After recording normal motion video footage from the film camera, Ocean Video used CineWave and its Commotion Pro compositing software to execute a ramp effect in which the action changed speed over time.
CineWave is also helping Ocean Video keep pace with the film industry's changing needs, including increased interest in high definition formats. "HD is increasingly being accepted by the film community and CineWave gives us a real advantage in today's changing production environment," said Johenning. "With CineWave we can use one system to deliver both SD and HD video assist to our clients. There is no hardware or software to change, so we are ready for any project."
