Expansion into the sports market and video-based motion capture
OMG, global leader in the three-dimensional capture and analysis of movement, providing tools and services for life sciences, entertainment and engineering applications, announced today that it has acquired the business and assets of Peak Performance Technologies, Inc ("Peak").
The acquisition will enable the combined company to expand its market reach, broaden its product range and strengthen the company's technology expertise. Julian Morris, Chief Executive, commented: "We believe that this is an excellent acquisition for the Group, bringing expansion into the sports market and video-based motion capture. Peak and Vicon, together, provide a compelling proposition across a wide market and product range".
Peak, based in Denver, Colorado, is a long established leader in motion measurement and analysis in sports performance and animal science with a combination of both video-based and optical motion capture products. With over 700 customers worldwide, this strength complements Vicon's existing presence in life sciences, animation and engineering, to create a group with significant market strength in an increased number of vertical and geographical markets.
Moreover, by combining Peak's strength in video-based motion measurement with Vicon's high accuracy motion systems, customers can satisfy all their tracking and analysis needs from a single company - with solutions from $10K to over $1M, and technology solutions offering the robustness and flexibility of analog video capture through to the accuracy of the world's first 4 million-pixel motion capture camera. Indeed the two product sets will be enhanced to interoperate so Peak customers can take advantage of the Vicon product range and vice versa.
"We have some manageable work to do on product integration but, once this is complete, the application upgrade path will be seamless through the entire product range good for customers, the business and our shareholders" Julian Morris, OMG Group Chief Executive.
