https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... r_gh3.html:
FYI You must set the external battery to 9v even though the GH4 says it only needs 8.4v--otherwise the GH4 turns on but says that the battery does not work and then shuts itself off.
https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/ ... t-59409259 Providing exact 8.4V DC (similar to a fully charged battery) will just give "You cannot use this battery" on LCD screen and the cam will turn off. My DC adapter delivers 8.8V idle e.g.. and the cam stays on with that.
I hadn't thought about the camera wanting a chipped battery at 8.4v and skipping the battery check over 8.4v. Given this, it is probably designed for 9v. I just couldn't tell from the specifications I could find if it could handle anything over 8.4v.
Also, I would be impressed if Panasonic doesn't have a voltage regulator IC in the battery input to avoid voltage spikes from real batteries. I can be wrong, but I am almost 100% sure it has, since batteries are unpredictable.
G85 manual) Also, if you attempt to use the dummy battery with normal 7.2V, you may get a error message "This battery can't be used". Again, the higher voltage signals the camera is running from external power.
https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/ ... t-59902872 You can buy 8.4V Li-Ion power backs at hobby stores that sell remote control model aircraft or boats. I picked up one for my GH3 so I could provide external power via the dummy battery adapter and it works just fine.
In one of my discussions it was pointed out that the newer cameras (G85 in particular) now need at least 8.5 volts on the dummy battery adapter. In particular, I have a power bank that I can dial in the amount of output voltage, and my G85 kept saying invalid battery if I fed it anything less than 8.5 volts.
My understanding is that since the 2 cell lithium ion battery packs produce 8.4 volts when fully changed, and a nominal 7.4 volts normally, that the camera checks whether the batter is chipped or not if the voltage is 8.4 volts or less, and assumes it is being powered by an external power source if it is 8.5 volts or higher.
So, the 8.4 volt Li-ion power bank will run your GH3 fine, but it likely won't run newer cameras like the GH5.
)
L'ho smontato, vedrò se si può modificare, al massimo gli metto uno step up/down dentro il case metallico!
